Cheaper tickets were just as good

I had bought a ticket package for the Tuesday and Wednesday sessions in Singapore featuring two singles matches already in June. Back then I was thinking that maybe I will take one more session on Friday. I chose the day session not only because I´m getting sleepy quite early, but also because of the pricing. When night session is about twice as expensive, it´s not hard to choose.

But there is still one decision to make. They sell here tickets as Premium, Category 1 and Category 2 tickets. As for my pre-bought package, I went for the Premium, because I wanted to see the players as close as possible. But after taking a look at how the ticket inspections are done, there was no need to buy anything but the cheapest ticket to get in. You can sit anywhere you want, there is no officials to control things, the only control is a person who actually has bought a seat and wants to sit there as well! And on Friday day session was less than half full. We checked our original seats, but then moved to a Premium section without any trouble.

Of course, this is not going to happen at every tournament. Somewhere they are very strict about the tickets. But I don´t think the Singapore organisers can be very happy about this. The system works only for those visiting the tournament for the first time. Others learn and don´t want to pay more than just enough.
So I think Friday day session was a good value for money. First there was Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza taking on the Chinese Taipei pair whose names I don´t even remember. Then there was Svetlana Kuznetsova and Garbine Muguruza, who played a three-set match.
The Singapore Indoor Stadium was a great place to watch tennis. The seats were comfortable and the view from the seats was great. Maybe I will come back again, although the heat and humidity outside is almost too much to bear!
